Conference Boy & Incentive Girl

September 2009 - Posts

EC Collective's annual fam trip started in style on Friday with a Champagne reception at Dexter House and Champagne cocktails at the Andaz Hotel, followed by a Champagne and bacon bap breakfast (a nice variation on the usual cornflakes) at Ironmongers' Hall on Saturday morning.
The respective teams then split up to discover some of East London's best conference and incentive venues, collecting cash prizes for show-rounds and challenges along the way.
Using our wit, wiles and charm, the Car Team (let's hear it for the blues!) managed to earn thousands of pounds in Monopoly cash.
Our sterling efforts may not have earned us first place at the awards ceremony, held at the Barbican later that night, but when it came to team T-shirts, the Car Team's customising talents meant we were surely the unsung heroes - Incentive Girl

It was survival of the fittest at the launch party for the Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum last night. Beautifully apt. Sadly, however, I suspect it may have been unintentional. In the midst of sparkly human butterflies flapping through the air high above the heads of hundreds of guests, a giant fabric flower – also suspended at a great height – slowly came adrift from its awning and tipped sideways to reveal a frightened lone production man clinging on for dear life. His desperate and prolonged efforts to flip the flamin’ flower upright were rewarded after long, painful minutes and everyone below breathed a sigh of relief that he didn’t plummet to the ground. It was nice to see the butterflies battle on through and never drop their permagrins. If that kind of action is guaranteed, I will definitely be booking that venue in future. – Conference Boy
