Just jetted into Cairo, flying BMI. It was an early flight but I made up for it by breakfasting at BMI's new international lounge at Heathrow. I was lucky enough to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Nile Plaza, which had great views of the Nile.
Spent today checking out the pyramids and the sphinx. The souvenir hawkers and camel guys run riot here - there were isolated outbreaks of bickering, which, in one case, ended up with a hawker brandishing a camel whip at his competitor.
Now I've arrived at the Four Seasons First Residence in Giza. It's a true oasis in this noisy, dusty city. Can't wait to explore the botanical and zoological gardens that I can see out my bedroom window...is that a rhino down there?! That will have to wait though...I'm away to get a well deserved spa treatment at the hotel now!
